Other events exist: the Rare Angon Kite Festival in Sanur in July, the Penglipuran Village Festival in Bangli (10 to 12 July in 2026) and the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, held from 21 to 25 October in 2026; 2027 dates are not announced.
Galungan, Nyepi: what it changes for a trip
Streets fill with penjor, ceremonies take place in every village, and some shops close. Nyepi is the most restrictive: the island stops for 24 hours, the airport is closed and nobody goes out, tourists included. Read Nyepi 2027, Galungan and Kuningan 2027 and public holidays in 2027.
Watching a ceremony respectfully
