Day 1: Ubud, rice terraces, temple and waterfall

Set off around 7:00 for the Tegallalang rice terraces before the crowd, then the Tirta Empul temple and the Tegenungan waterfall. Return to Ubud for the monkey forest and the palace, and finish with a dance show. For an on-foot version, see Ubud in 1 day.

Day 2: Nusa Penida, the west tour

The start is early: pickup around 6:00, fast boat from Sanur (about 30 to 45 minutes), then Kelingking, Broken Beach and Crystal Bay. Choose the west, more complete for a first time: see Nusa Penida: east or west tour and Nusa Penida in a day. The last boat back is around 17:00; the return to Ubud then takes 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic (estimate), so sleeping in Sanur is an option.

Day 3: Uluwatu, beaches, temple and Jimbaran

Drop your bags in the south, then enjoy the Uluwatu beaches in the morning, the Uluwatu temple and the kecak dance in the late afternoon, and dine by the sea at Jimbaran. The airport is very close: sleeping in the south avoids the road on the morning of your flight. For the area, see Uluwatu.

FAQ

Are three days enough for Bali?

For a first taste, yes: Ubud, Nusa Penida and Uluwatu, one day each. For the north and east of the island you need more time.

Do you need a driver?

Yes, it is the simplest: he links the Ubud stops and takes you to Sanur and Uluwatu.

Where to sleep for these three days?

Two nights in Ubud (or one in Ubud and one in Sanur) then one night in the south, near the airport.
