Uluwatu beaches: Padang Padang, Bingin, Dreamland and Suluban

Updated on October 24, 2026

The beaches of Uluwatu, on the Bukit peninsula, are coves of pale sand at the foot of limestone cliffs: Padang Padang, Bingin, Dreamland, Suluban (Blue Point) and Balangan. They are best at low to mid tide and are reached by stairs or paths. Guides give about 15,000 rupiah entry at Padang Padang (cash, scooter parking about 2,000); the other fees are not confirmed. Found in October 2026 in guides, with no official source.

Highlights

Padang Padang

Padang Padang

A small sandy beach, reached by a staircase through a gap in the rock. It is the best known in the area and fills quickly in the middle of the day.

Suluban (Blue Point)

Suluban (Blue Point)

A beach at the foot of a cliff, reached by stairs and caves; at low tide, rocky coves and pools appear. One guide cites 10,000 rupiah entry (a single source).

Dreamland, Bingin, Balangan

Dreamland is mainly a beach for swimming and surfing at low to mid tide, and at low tide you can walk round the point to Balangan and Bingin. Bingin is a surf wave over a coral reef, with a steep staircase and cafés on the cliff. See also the Uluwatu temple, to the south-west.

Practical info

Tips

  • Check a tide table on the day: swimming is often dangerous at high tide or in swell, and the bottom is coral and rock (water shoes). The waves at most of these spots are for experienced surfers; swim in sheltered places, never near the breaks. Vendors and paid sun loungers are on the beaches; agree the price first. Bring cash for entries and parking, and drinking water; shade is scarce. To choose where to sleep (Bingin, Pecatu, Uluwatu), see Uluwatu; for the evening meal, see seafood dinner at Jimbaran. Indicative prices, to confirm on site.

How to get there

The beaches are about 20 to 30 minutes from the Uluwatu temple and an hour by road from Seminyak and Canggu (estimates, depending on traffic); scooters are common but the roads are narrow. See private driver in Bali.

Opening hours

Best: Morning, low to mid tide
Beaches open in the daytime; Padang Padang about 15, 000 rupiah per adult in cash, Suluban about 10, 000 according to one guide, no entry fee found for Bingin, Dreamland with a small fee at the gate (not confirmed); unofficial sources, to confirm on site.
