Beach club facing the sea at Echo Beach, Canggu

How to choose

Choose by area and mood. Canggu (Finns, La Brisa, Atlas): young, lively, surf nearby (see Canggu). Seminyak (Potato Head): smarter, a good option for sunset (see Seminyak). Uluwatu (Sundays): cliffs and wild beaches, calmer (see Uluwatu's beaches). Clubs change offers and prices by day and event: check their booking page.

Prices and minimum spend

A beach club's price has two parts: the entry (sometimes free, sometimes 100,000 to 250,000 IDR depending on the source and time) and the minimum spend for a lounger or daybed, often counted in hundreds of thousands of IDR and above a million for the best spots. The minimum is spent on food and drinks: it is not lost. The figures above come from guides that contradict each other: do not treat them as official rates.

When to go

The dry season (April to October) has the most sun, but is also busiest, especially July-August (see when to visit Bali). Weekends and sunset are busiest: book a lounger several days ahead and arrive early afternoon to find space. Off season, afternoons can be rainy.

Practical tips

Plan a driver for the way back: Canggu and Seminyak roads are jammed late in the day (see private driver in Bali). Keep valuables safe (see scams and safety in Bali) and protect yourself from the sun. For the rest of the day, see sunset and the kecak dance at Uluwatu or things to do in Bali.
