Things to Do in Seminyak: Beach, Beach Clubs, Restaurants and Hotels
Seminyak is the chic district of south-west Bali: a long beach facing the sunset, well-known beach clubs, boutiques, restaurants and upscale hotels and villas. It is livelier and pricier than Ubud, more polished and less "surf" than Canggu. People come to dine, shop, swim in a beach club and watch the sun go down. About 30 minutes from the airport, it is also a good base for an arrival or departure. Information from guides, October 2026, with no official source: prices to be confirmed.
Highlights

Seminyak beach at sunset
A dark-sand beach lined with loungers and colourful parasols, with a wavy sea; swimming calls for caution, so watch the flags and the lifeguards' instructions. The sunset draws a crowd.
The beach clubs
Potato Head (infinity pool facing Petitenget) and Ku De Ta are the best known: free entry according to guides, with a minimum spend for the best spots; daybeds can cost several million rupiah. Arrive early or book. For a tighter budget, Echo Beach in Canggu is an alternative.
Restaurants and boutiques
The district gathers restaurants, bars and fashion and home-decor shops, mostly around Jalan Kayu Aya and Petitenget.

Tips
- The south of Bali costs more than elsewhere: see the budget for a trip to Bali. To stay, choose between central Seminyak (lively), Petitenget (more chic) and the villas further north; see where to stay in Bali. Without a scooter, rely on taxis and apps, but traffic is dense at sunset: a driver is simpler for excursions (see private driver in Bali). From Seminyak, a sunset dinner cruise or a Nusa Penida day trip is possible with hotel pickup (see Nusa Penida in one day).
How to get there
Seminyak is about 30 minutes from the airport outside heavy traffic (estimate). See from Bali airport to Ubud, Canggu or Seminyak. Canggu is 15 to 30 minutes north, Ubud about an hour and a half.
