Entering Bali with a pet: the steps

The point that changes everything: several guides say the animal cannot arrive directly in Denpasar and must go through Jakarta, which adds cost. For a stay of a few weeks many travellers give up: a pet sitter at home is often simpler. Think of the return too: your home country sets its own rules.

On the spot: heat, rabies, health

Rabies exists in Bali, in stray dogs as well as monkeys: see rabies, monkeys and dogs in Bali. Midday outings are hard on an animal; hot sand and the fresh water of rice paddies are best avoided. Beaches and temples generally do not admit dogs. Find a vet before you arrive. Practical basics are in before you go to Bali.
