West Bali National Park: Entry Fee, Menjangan, Hikes and How to Visit
West Bali National Park (Taman Nasional Bali Barat) covers the western tip of the island: dry forest, mangroves, hills and the small island of Menjangan, famous for snorkelling and diving. It is the wildest part of Bali, far from the southern crowds, but about 3 hours from Ubud (estimate). Guides give a foreigner entry fee of 200,000 IDR on weekdays and 300,000 IDR on weekends and public holidays (unofficial; one guide dates its figures from 2020): check at the ranger office before you go (October 2026).
Highlights

Menjangan: snorkelling and diving
Boats leave from Labuan Lalang, at the north of Teluk Terima bay, for Menjangan island and its coral walls. This is the activity most trips are built around; see Menjangan Island to choose a package.

The beaches and mangroves of Teluk Terima
The strait-facing coast offers quiet beaches and mangrove paths, without the infrastructure of southern Bali.

The Bali myna, the white starling
The park is tied to the protection of the Bali myna, a white bird that is threatened in the wild. The photo shows the species, not necessarily taken in the park; seeing a wild bird is never guaranteed.

Tips
- There are two ways to come. A day trip (simplest: transport, park entry and boat included), or on your own with a driver (private driver in Bali). Park fees are paid at the ranger offices (Labuhan Lalang, Cekik); the snorkelling and diving fees are hard to compare between sources (15,000 to 25,000 IDR extra in one, included in another): ask the operator what is covered. Guided hikes are booked the day before for an early start. To sleep nearby, see Pemuteran; for diving, diving in Bali.
How to get there
Labuan Lalang is about 3 to 3.5 hours from Ubud and 3.5 to 4 hours from southern Bali (estimate, depending on traffic). A very early day trip from the south is possible but long; sleeping in Pemuteran or Lovina breaks up the journey.
