Atuh Beach (Nusa Penida): access, steps, price and Atuh vs Diamond Beach
Atuh Beach is a white-sand cove at the foot of cliffs on the east coast of Nusa Penida, next to Diamond Beach. It is reached by a road, then a path and steep steps, wilder and less visited than Diamond Beach. The guides consulted in October 2026 give no precise entry fee for Atuh (visitors mention a fee at the gate with a free bottle of water); neighbouring Diamond Beach costs about 35,000 IDR, parking included. Unofficial prices, to be confirmed on site; pay in cash.
Highlights

Atuh cove
A beach of pale sand between two limestone cliffs, with arched rocks in the water. It is calmer than Diamond Beach, but the sea is strong: look more than you swim.
Diamond Beach next door
Both beaches can be visited in the same morning or afternoon. One guide suggests Diamond Beach in the morning and Atuh in the afternoon. See Diamond Beach for the access steps (15 to 20 minutes down according to one guide, with a rocky section).

Tips
- Atuh or Diamond Beach? Diamond: easier to photograph, more people, a descent with stairs and then a rope. Atuh: wilder, rougher access, no crowds: avoid it if you are unfit, with children or after rain. Wear good shoes, bring water and cash. The map-app pin leads to the left side of the bay, where no paid parking was reported; the other side asks about 10,000 IDR (one guide). East roads are narrow: a scooter is common but not for beginners; for the day, choose an East or West tour or a driver.
How to get there
From Sanur harbour the fast boat takes 30 to 45 minutes (estimate), then about 1 hour by road across the island to the east. See Nusa Penida for the crossing, prices and tour choices.
