Devil's Tear in Nusa Lembongan: Price, Tide, Safety and Best Time (2026)

Updated on October 25, 2026

Devil's Tear is a cliff on the west coast of Nusa Lembongan, at Jungutbatu, where waves crash against the rock and burst into spray. Entry costs about IDR 25,000 in cash (15,000 for a child according to one source); the ticket lets you come back during the day according to one guide (unofficial, October 2026; confirm, entry fees changed in 2026). Waves are strongest at high tide, and sunset gives the best light. Swimming and jumping from the cliff are dangerous: stay behind the barriers.

Highlights

The spray on the cliff

The spray on the cliff

At high tide, the waves hit the cliff head-on and throw up high spray. A fence keeps you from the edge. The rocks are very sharp on this coast.

The sunset

Many visitors come late in the afternoon, since the ticket is valid all day; the golden light on the foam is the most beautiful.

Dream Beach

A white-sand bay nearby: perfect for photos and sunbathing, but not for swimming because of unpredictable currents. Combine with the Lembongan mangrove.

Practical info

Tips

  • The site is dangerous: one guide says people have died here. Do not swim, do not climb on the rocks and do not jump. A 3 to 4 m jump at a nearby cove is possible but risky: it has to be timed between wave sets. Bring small change and wear closed shoes. Devil's Tear is on Lembongan, not Ceningan: see Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan Blue Lagoon.

How to get there

Fast boat or ferry from Bali to Nusa Lembongan, then a car with driver (recommended) or a scooter, as roads are narrow. Day trips from Bali include Devil's Tear with transfer (about 70 USD on GetYourGuide).

Opening hours

Best: High tide, late afternoon
Access all day (open 24 hours according to one guide, but you see almost nothing at night); about IDR 25, 000 (unofficial, October 2026).
