Nusa Lembongan is a small island off Bali's south-east coast, calmer and easier to get around than its big neighbour Nusa Penida. People come for the pale-sand beaches, mangroves, sunsets and snorkelling; Nusa Ceningan, right next door, is linked to Lembongan by a narrow bridge. This page helps you choose between a day trip from Bali and one or two nights on the island, and compare with Nusa Penida. Information noted in October 2026; entry fees changed in 2026, so confirm them before you go.
Highlights

Dream Beach
A pale-sand beach surrounded by cliffs on Lembongan's south coast. It is lovely for a walk and for looking at the sea, but waves and currents make swimming risky: respect the signs.

The mangroves by jukung boat
A trip in a traditional outrigger boat through the mangroves of the north-east of the island is a calm outing, away from the beach crowds. Check the departure point, the length and the price before you board.

Tips
- The island can be explored by scooter, bike or on foot, much more simply than Penida, but the roads are narrow and a scooter is still a risk for beginners. Lembongan combines with Penida: many tours and boats link the two islands, but it is better to give each one a day. For a day from Bali, a fast boat from Sanur and a snorkelling or beach circuit are enough. For a night, staying on the island lets you see the beaches in peace after the day tours leave. Compare Lembongan (beaches, mangroves, relaxed feel) with Nusa Penida (cliffs, viewpoints, long roads) and the day trip from Bali. Boat and tour prices change by company: ask what is included (equipment, lunch, entry fees). Do not forget the Bali tourist levy of 150,000 IDR per person, paid only once, and the Nusa islands entry fee for foreigners, which according to one press source also covers Lembongan and Ceningan.
How to get there
By fast boat from Sanur, a crossing similar to Nusa Penida's (about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the boat and the sea, approximate time), arriving at Jungutbatu or Mushroom Bay depending on the company. A boat also links Nusa Penida to Lembongan. On the island, scooters or bikes can be rented, or you can use transfers arranged by your accommodation.
