Puri Lukisan Museum Ubud: opening hours, ticket price and Balinese painting
The Museum Puri Lukisan is Ubud's Balinese art museum in the town centre, on Jl. Raya Ubud, in a garden of pavilions around ponds. At a reseller, the admission ticket gives access to all galleries and exhibitions, from about $3 (rated 4.6 out of 5 by the reseller), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before (verified on 26 October 2026). Allow 1.5 to 2 hours. For another art museum in town, see the Neka museum.
Highlights

The entrance and gates
The museum, whose name means "palace of paintings", opens through a carved stone Balinese gate decorated with offerings; a tropical garden links the pavilions.

The garden and sculptures
Statues in the garden, such as this figure nestled in the roots of a banyan, show that the museum also holds wood and stone sculpture.
Balinese painting
The museum presents Balinese painting, from traditional scenes of myth and village life to modern works of the Ubud school; it was founded in 1956 by the prince of Ubud Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati with the painter Rudolf Bonnet.
Workshops
A reseller page mentions a painting workshop; dates and price are unconfirmed: ask at the ticket desk.
Practical info
Tips
- Keep an ID with you: the reseller asks you to show one on arrival. Dress decently (covered shoulders and knees are the norm in religious sites and pavilions; ask if in doubt). The online and desk prices are close and vary with the source: compare before buying. To round out the day, see Ubud art market, the Campuhan Ridge Walk and Ubud in one day.
How to get there
Jl. Raya Ubud, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali 80571, a few minutes on foot from Ubud Palace and the market. On foot from the centre is simplest; otherwise a scooter or a Grab.
