Pura Dalem Ubud: Which Temple, the Evening Kecak, Times and Tickets (2026)

Updated on October 25, 2026

"Pura Dalem Ubud" in practice means two things: Pura Dalem Puri, the temple of the dead in central Ubud, which is still a place of worship and is viewed from outside, and the evening kecak shows sold under the Pura Dalem name, which booking sites list at about 6 USD (GlobalTix, October 2026). Every Balinese village has a Pura Dalem, devoted to death rites and to the goddess Durga, also called Rangda. For an evening dance in Ubud, the best-selling ticket is the kecak and fire dance at about 6 USD (4.4 from 3,703 reviews, GetYourGuide): the venue changes by night and is printed on your voucher.

Highlights

Pura Dalem Puri

Pura Dalem Puri

A neighbourhood temple with carved gates and colourful offerings in central Ubud. It is a working temple: look from the entrance and do not enter the courtyards reserved for prayer. We found no entrance fee in our sources.

The evening kecak

Resellers advertise the kecak at "Pura Dalem Gede" on Sundays and Tuesdays at 19:00, arriving at 18:30 (unofficial). On other nights the show is elsewhere (ARMA on Mondays and Wednesdays, Peliatan Palace on Thursdays according to one reseller). It is not known whether this temple is the same as Pura Dalem Puri: check the venue on your voucher.

The legong at the palace

If the kecak is not on the right night, the legong at the Ubud Palace runs every evening at 19:30 for about IDR 100,000.

Do not confuse

Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal is inside the Sacred Monkey Forest: it is covered by the forest ticket and its inner courtyards are closed to visitors.

Practical info

Tips

  • Dress for a temple (shoulders and knees covered, sarong). Women who are menstruating are not admitted to some Balinese temples, and one reseller's listing states this for the show. Do not step on offerings or walk in front of worshippers. To compare the dances, see the Uluwatu kecak at sunset, more spectacular but an hour's drive away.

How to get there

Central Ubud is walkable. Grab and Gojek cannot always pick up in the centre: plan to walk to a nearby street (Grab and Gojek in Bali).

Opening hours

Best: Temple by day, kecak at 19:00
Temple: no official hours found. Kecak: 19:00
Sunday and Tuesday according to one reseller (another lists Saturday, 18:30 to 20:30); about 6 USD (unofficial sources, October 2026).
