Sukawati Art Market in Bali: Opening Hours, Bargaining, Prices and Tips
Sukawati Art Market (Pasar Seni Sukawati) is Bali's big craft market, about ten kilometres south of Ubud: carvings, paintings, textiles, baskets, sarongs and souvenirs, in aisles of small shops. Entry is free. It is open from 6:00 to 18:00 according to one guide, but most vendors open between 9:00 and 10:00. Bargaining is expected: there are no fixed prices. Bring cash, as most vendors do not take cards (October 2026, unofficial guides).
Highlights

The craft aisles
Hundreds of small stalls sell wood carvings, paintings, baskets, fabrics and decor. Take the time to compare several stalls before buying.
Bargaining
One guide advises offering about half the asking price, another starting at 30-40%, politely. A visitor reports that most vendors come down to about half their starting price. Smile, stay calm, never give in under pressure and be ready to walk away.
Souvenirs to take home
Sarongs, magnets, baskets and wooden objects are the usual buys; to compare with the Ubud market and choose gifts, see Bali souvenirs.
