Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong (Nusa Penida): price, tides and safety
Broken Beach (Pasih Andus) is a collapsed sea arch on Nusa Penida's north-west coast, where the sea flows in through a hole and out under a natural bridge. Angel's Billabong, a rock pool, is right next to it. Allow 30 to 45 minutes for both, a standard stop on the west tour. October 2026 guides disagree on the fee: 5,000 IDR for both sites according to one, 15,000 IDR per person according to another, plus parking of about 5,000 IDR per car or 2,000 per scooter; cash only. No official source found: confirm on the spot.
Highlights

The Broken Beach arch
The rock bridge, the turquoise cove below and the cliff make one of Nusa Penida's best-known photos. You look from above: you do not go down to the beach.
Angel's Billabong
A natural rock pool a few minutes' walk from the arch. According to guides it can only be approached at low tide, and it is dangerous at high tide and in big swell: do not swim if the sea is rough, and do not cross the barriers.
Combining
Both sites are visited with Kelingking and Crystal Bay on a west tour; to choose between west and east, see Nusa Penida: east or west tour.
Practical info
Tips
- Come early or late in the afternoon to avoid the groups. Shoes with good grip: the rock is uneven and slippery. Keep your distance from the edge. Carry small change. To see everything in a day, see Nusa Penida in one day and Nusa Penida.
How to get there
On the island's north-west coast, about 20 to 30 minutes from the west-side harbour (estimate). Simplest is a driver or a west tour from Bali; a scooter is possible for experienced riders, but roads are damaged and steep.
