Dreamland Beach (Uluwatu): access, price, tide, swimming and tips
Dreamland Beach, at Pecatu on the Bukit peninsula, is a golden-sand beach with powerful waves, popular for sunset and surfing. Entry is free according to most guides consulted in October 2026 (one older blog mentions 10,000 IDR), with parking around 5,000 IDR for a scooter and 10,000 to 20,000 IDR for a car. Sunbed and umbrella: about 50,000 to 100,000 IDR. Unofficial prices, to be confirmed; bring cash.
Highlights

The beach and the waves
A long stretch of pale sand framed by cliffs, with powerful waves that draw surfers. It is a beach for watching the sunset and paddling near the edge rather than swimming far.
Sunbeds, showers and cafés
Sunbeds with umbrellas, showers (about 10,000 IDR according to one guide) and toilets (about 3,000 IDR) are available; warungs serve food. To compare with the neighbouring beaches (Padang Padang, Bingin, Suluban), see the beaches of Uluwatu.

Tips
- Several travellers report people demanding 10,000 IDR per person at the entrance: pay only at a clearly official booth or car park and keep the receipt. Swimming is risky: currents and waves, especially at high tide. Ask the lifeguards or locals, and leave the surf to experienced surfers. For comparison, Padang Padang is smaller and Melasti is easier to reach: see Padang Padang. For the evening, a sunset in Uluwatu with the kecak combines well.
How to get there
Dreamland is about 40 minutes to 1 hour from Seminyak and the airport, and 15 minutes from Uluwatu temple (estimates, depending on traffic). By scooter or by car with a driver (private driver in Bali). One guide says the beach is open at all hours, with no closing time.
