Sekumpul Waterfall: access, ticket price, trek and day trip from Ubud

Updated on October 24, 2026

Sekumpul is a group of waterfalls in a jungle valley in northern Bali, in the Buleleng area, often counted among the most beautiful on the island. You walk down a long staircase, cross a river and climb back up: it is a real hike, not just a viewpoint. Sources checked in October 2026 give three options set by the village: viewpoint only about 20,000 rupiah, medium trek 125,000 to 150,000, long trek 200,000 to 250,000, with a mandatory local guide for the treks; hours 8:00 to 17:00. Other, older sources give other prices: none is official, so confirm at the entrance.

Highlights

The Sekumpul waterfalls

The Sekumpul waterfalls

Several falls drop side by side in a jungle amphitheatre. The medium trek leads to the "hidden waterfall" and to Sekumpul (2 to 3 hours round trip according to one guide); the long trek adds the falls known as "Fiji" (4 to 5 hours).

The viewpoint

The cheapest option, about one hour round trip, gives a view over the valley without going down to the foot of the falls.

The staircase and the river

The descent is by a long concrete staircase (280 to 400 steps according to accounts), then by a path with a river crossing. The climb back up is the hardest part.

Practical info

Tips

  • Pay only at the official ticket counter, near the site's entrance sign: several guides report fake checkpoints and scams on the road, particularly for scooter riders; see scams and safety in Bali. Bring non-slip footwear and a change of clothes: the paths are slippery and you sometimes have to wade. This trek is not suitable for people with back problems, pregnant women or wheelchair users. Carry cash in small notes. The site combines with Ulun Danu Beratan temple and the village of Munduk. This information comes from travel guides, not from the official site.

How to get there

Sekumpul is about 2.5 to 3 hours by car from Ubud (one guide's estimate): it is a long day, as the site is far from the south. The easiest way is a private driver or a tour with transfer, which can add Ulun Danu Beratan or other waterfalls. See private driver in Bali.

Opening hours

Best: At opening, in the morning
Daily from 8:00 to 17:00 according to one source (guides may be available from sunrise). Indicative prices: viewpoint about 20
000 rupiah; medium trek 125, 000 to 150, 000; long trek 200, 000 to 250, 000 (unofficial, to confirm).
