The summary

Seminyak beach at sunset

How to choose

For price and no-frills partying, choose Kuta and Legian (see Kuta beach). For a more polished setting and several venues on foot, Seminyak, with Potato Head. For a relaxed, young atmosphere, Canggu, with Finns and Atlas. For sunset and an evening on the cliff, Uluwatu, with Savaya. To compare daytime beach clubs, see the best beach clubs in Bali.

Prices and entry

Entry is often free by day at some Canggu clubs; elsewhere it can cost 50,000 to 100,000 IDR with a drink. Many places ask for a minimum spend, around 300,000 to 500,000 IDR in Canggu according to one guide. Nights with guest DJs are sold by ticket and cost clearly more. No local beer price was confirmed in the sources: compare menus.

Safety

The legal drinking age is 21, and some clubs ask for ID. Do not leave your drink unattended, avoid unlabelled or arak-based drinks: methanol poisonings have been reported in Indonesia. Drugs are severely punished in Indonesia. Never ride a scooter after drinking; take a driver or a ride-hailing taxi (see private driver in Bali and renting a scooter in Bali). Good to know

During Nyepi, the day of silence, everything is closed, including clubs: see Nyepi 2027 in Bali. The dry season (April to October) is the liveliest; New Year is very busy (see New Year in Bali). To sleep in the right place after the night out, see where to stay in Bali.
