Jatiluwih Rice Terraces (UNESCO): ticket price, opening hours, walks and how to get there
The Jatiluwih rice terraces, in the Tabanan area, are the largest terraces in Bali and part of the Cultural Landscape of Bali Province, listed by UNESCO in 2012 together with the traditional irrigation system (subak). Unlike Tegallalang, you can walk a long way among the fields, often with fewer people. Sources checked in October 2026 give about 75,000 rupiah per foreign adult, in cash; the hours vary by source (6:00 to 19:00, 8:00 to 17:00 or 8:00 to 18:00) and none is official: confirm on site. Allow one to three hours.
Highlights

The terraces from above
The road crosses a large amphitheatre of green paddies, with Mount Batukaru behind when the sky is clear. Several terraces and small cafés give a viewpoint without any walking.

The paths between the fields
Trails run between the plots: the shortest walk is a few hundred metres, longer loops take one to two hours. Stay on the paths and do not step on the farmers' dykes.
The red rice
The area produces a local red rice, which you can taste in the site's restaurants according to several guides.
Practical info
Tips
- The ticket is paid in cash; cards are not accepted at the entrance according to several guides. Parking: about 3,000 rupiah for a scooter and 5,000 for a car according to one guide; drone use is charged separately (150,000 according to one source). Wear good shoes: paths are muddy after rain. The sun is strong at midday, bring water and a hat. The site is less crowded than Tegallalang (Tegallalang rice terraces), but tour buses arrive in late morning: come early. It combines well with Ulun Danu Beratan temple. This information comes from travel guides, not from the official site.
How to get there
Jatiluwih is about 1.5 to 2 hours by car from Ubud (estimate) and about 1.5 hours from Canggu, at the foot of Mount Batukaru. There is no practical public transport: take a private driver or a tour that combines Jatiluwih, Ulun Danu Beratan and another site. See private driver in Bali and Bali in 3 days.
