Git Git Waterfall (Bali): getting there from Ubud, entry fee, hours and north Bali tour
Git Git waterfall (also spelled Gitgit), in the village of Git Git near Sambangan and Singaraja in north Bali, drops about 35 metres according to an online tour listing. Entry is announced at about 10,000 to 20,000 IDR (only one guide gives a figure; no official source found) and the site opens around 7:00; the visit itself takes 30 to 60 minutes, with a steep trail. From Ubud it is far: allow about 2 h to 2 h 30 each way by road (estimate), so you go as part of a north Bali circuit (Ulun Danu Beratan, Handara, Munduk, Lovina), not as a quick return trip.
Highlights

The main fall
A long ribbon of water in a jungle-covered gorge, with a pool and rocks below; you can get close to the water if the trail allows.

The trail and the jungle
The path goes down through the vegetation; it is steep in places, so closed shoes are better than flip-flops.
The monkeys
Guides mention wild monkeys that come to drink at the waterfall: do not feed them and keep bags and food closed (see rabies, monkeys and dogs in Bali).

Tips
- Come before 10:00, before the coaches arrive, to have the site almost to yourself (one guide's advice). Pay in cash, with small change. Shoes with grip, swimsuit and towel if you want to get wet. For a full day in the north, combine with Ulun Danu Beratan temple, Handara Gate, Munduk or Lovina; for another waterfall in the region, Sekumpul waterfall is more spectacular but takes longer to reach. How to get there
Git Git is on the road between Lake Bratan and Singaraja, about 2 h to 2 h 30 from Ubud (estimate, traffic permitting). A private driver is advised for a one-day north circuit; see private driver in Bali. The mountain road is long: avoid a scooter if you are not experienced.
