Jimbaran Beach in Bali: sunset, swimming and where to have dinner

Updated on October 25, 2026

Jimbaran Beach is a long sandy bay in the south of Bali, close to the airport (about 15 to 20 minutes by car according to one guide) and 25 to 30 minutes from Seminyak. It is known for its seafood restaurants set on the sand and for the sunset, around 18:00. Access to the beach is free: you only pay for parking. Plan 1 hour for the walk and the sunset, and a full evening if you dine there. Information found in October 2026 in guides, with no official source.

Highlights

Dinner with your feet in the sand

Dinner with your feet in the sand

Tables are set on the beach facing the sea, with candles and sometimes live music. It is the typical image of Jimbaran; book a table at the water's edge for sunset time.

The grilled seafood

The grilled seafood

Fish, prawns, squid and clams are grilled over coconut-husk coals. Compare the set menus, ask the price by weight and check whether tax and service are included before ordering.

What else to do

Swimming is mostly for cooling off: the beach is not watched like a surf beach and the best moment remains sunset. Many tours link the Uluwatu temple, the kecak dance and then dinner at Jimbaran; see Uluwatu temple, kecak dance at Uluwatu and seafood dinner in Jimbaran. On GetYourGuide in October 2026, a fish market visit with sunset dinner starts around 18 USD, and the Uluwatu temple, kecak and Jimbaran Bay circuit around 25 to 40 USD (dinner not included in several offers). Nearby is the Garuda Wisnu Kencana park.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the south, see where to stay in Bali. Unofficial prices, to confirm on site.
